Welcome to the 2023 Madeira Schools Foundation Scholarship application.

All Applications for 2023 are now closed. Thank you for participating in the MSF scholarship process. You may continue to submit Financial Statements, High School Transcripts and Letters of Referrals until March 31st, 2023.

Each year the Madeira Schools Foundation awards upwards of $20,000 to graduating seniors for achievements they accomplished while at Madeira High School.

Applications will be accepted online only this year, no later than Thursday, March 23. Please see buttons below for applications. You may apply to all scholarships for which you meet the qualifications. Please note, while you do need to fill out the short application to each scholarship separately, you will only need to submit the financial statement, high school transcripts and letters of recommendation once.

Tips to success in filling out application.

  1. Write Essays ahead of time in separate word or text program, with spell check and editing capabilities. Then copy and paste into application form.
  2. Keep essays relevant and concise. We are looking to see your personality come through in your essay. Please tell us your story.
  3. Have a list of all you clubs and activities ready. There will be an opportunity to list how you took initiative to lead or succeed. Please consider any executive position’s, team captains, and special projects you may have lead.
  4. Your name and personal information will be redacted from the judges. Your student ID number will be used to track your application.

The Russell-Emery Scholarship

This award is made possible by Mark Russell ℅ 1967 in memory of his parents Earl and Elizabeth Emery-Russell. This award will recognize a student for improvement and extra curricular activities during their high school career.

Stephen M. Kramer Scholarship

This scholarship was started by former Superintendent Steve Kramer and is now funded continually by the Madeira Schools Foundation in his honor to award a deserving student each year who has improved his/her academic standing during their high school career.

A Promise To Care Award by Firestone Kenwood

A Promise To Care Award by Firestone Kenwood: This scholarship was started by Derek Lester on behalf of Firestone in Kenwood to award a deserving student each year who has shown exemplary service to others and improved his/her academic standing during their high school career.

Nina Bechtel Knox Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Nina Bechtel Knox, a 1976 graduate of Madeira High School. Nina’s family, classmates and friends established this scholarship to continue her legacy of happiness and hard work. It is presented to a female student preferably intending to study business or journalism and possessing determination, leadership and academic achievement. “Happiness is a science and a choice, a journey everyone can possess and enjoy.”

Santoro Entrepreneurship Scholarship

The “Entrepreneur of the Year” is an award made possible by Madeira High School 2008 alumnus Phil Santoro.  Phil was inspired by his experience here in Madeira and specifically his love for Mrs. Jordan’s Entrepreneur Class.  As a way to give back, he created this scholarship to recognize excellence within this program.

John D. Rahe Scholarship

In honor of former Superintendent of Schools John D. Rahe. Dr. Rahe was a Madeira graduate that went on to be the middle school and high school principal before becoming Superintendent. John was relentless in his pursuit of excellence and a tireless educator who truly helped Madeira to become known across Ohio and our nation for our excellence in education.  The John D. Rahe Scholarship recognizes five students for their outstanding character and scholastic achievement.

Adrick Family Scholarship

The Adrick Family Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 is made possible through a generous donation by Jay & Mary Ann Adrick.  Long time residents of Madeira, Mary Ann taught at Madeira Elementary School and Jay spent many years in the broadcast business and is a regular volunteer in our high school digital media program helping to produce “What’s up Madeira.” Both their daughters, Suzy Adrick Tucker and Melissa Adrick Unger graduated from Madeira and currently work in the district.  The Adrick Family Scholarship is to be awarded to a Madeira High School graduating senior who will be attending a college or university to study and major in a Science ,Technology Engineering, Math or an Electronic Media related program.  The scholarship committee consisting of Madeira High School teachers from the STEM and Electronic Media programs will select a deserving student based on criteria including academic achievement, demonstration of a strong desire to pursue a career in one of these fields.
