Congratulations to the 2022 Ruth Slagle Crawford Alumni Scholar: Trey Kanet, ’19

I am endlessly grateful to receive the Ruth Slagle Crawford Scholarship and would like to convey my appreciation to everyone who is involved with the award. The money from this award will greatly ease my stress as I look to complete my time at Miami University and move towards my future career in sales and trading. I am honored and feel beholden to the outstanding community from which I was raised; thank you all and I look forward to making Madeira proud.

I would like to express my undying admiration and respect for two educators who truly changed my life: Jennifer Jordan and Bob Kitchen. These two were always the first to believe in me at a time when many saw me in a different light. Mrs. Jordan has served as a role model and mentor to me throughout my life and was always the first to have my back. She is someone who I look up to holistically and she serves as an agent of empowerment for the student body. Bob Kitchen emboldened me to be great and instilled a love for vocabulary that I still hold dearly. He commands respect through his honesty and is someone who anyone could look to as an exemplary leader. I learned so much from Mr. Kitchen; both through our conversations and my observation of his actions.

Thank you all,

Trey
