This scholarship was created in memory of William Koehler, a 1968 graduate of Madeira High School. William’s family established this scholarship to honor his legacy of leadership, great listening and multi-sport extra curricular involvement. It will be presented to a student entering higher education through either the military or college/university. This student will possess determination, leadership and academic achievement. They will also have a love of family and community and complete an essay explaining the importance of both to their future education.

Criteria for selection:
- Completed essay: “How family and community are important to my future education”
- high grade point average OR improved grade point average
- participation in school and community sponsored extracurricular activities
- Scholarship funds dispersed in August prior to the student’s first semester in college
Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship payment will be sent directly to the college, university, or vocational school of the recipient’s choice.
