Billie and Tim Yeomans Memorial Scholarship

In Honor of 1960 Madeira graduates, Billie & Tim Yeomans.  Billie and Tim gave passionately and abundantly to their Madeira community and leave a legacy of three generations of Madeira Alumni.  This scholarship will be awarded to two graduates recognized for their hard work and effort throughout their high school career.

Consideration will be given to students who meet the following criteria:
– Student attending any of The Great Oaks Career Campuses or Madeira High School Main Campus- Student who will continue their education through a trade school or program, military, college or university
– Student who has shown improvement and/or determination to succeed over their 4-year high school career
– Student who shows a passion and love of their community and school

Wayne Smith Memorial Scholarship

This $1000 award in memory of Wayne Smith will go to a student selected for their love of athletics and education. Wayne and his wife Pat, raised two Madeira alums and were long time members and supporters of the Madeira Schools Foundation. Wayne coached football at the recreational and high school level. He then went on to help bring the first soccer program to Madeira. he even convinced his wife, Pat, to create a team with her troop of Girl Scouts! Their legacy of giving back to their community lives on through this award, helping to support the next step in a students educational and athletic career at a university or college.

Consideration will be given to students who meet the following criteria:
– Madeira student attending any higher education university or college
– Student who has been involved in athletics in recreational or high school supported programs, as a player, coach or support role
– Student with a C average or above

Chris Flanagan Memorial Scholarship

In Honor of Chris Flanagan, the type of educator the world aspires to have more of. He was passionate, creative, and willing to go above and beyond for his students and school (of which there are many examples). Chris believed in building relationships by knowing each student’s name and believing that no job was above him if it helped his students and colleagues.

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior recognized for a love of life and learning through being a friend to all, fun-loving, full of high energy, focused on relationships and committed to the spirit of our small-town Madeira community.

Consideration will be given to students who meet the following criteria:

-grade point average of B or above

-a student who has shown improvement over their 4-year high school career

Bob Westermeyer Memorial Scholarship

This award was created in memory of Bob Westermeyer, a longtime friend, supporter and photographer for Madeira High School Athletics. His love of photography and athletics was appreciated by so many parents and students over the years. Bob’s family established this scholarship to recognize the passion he had for the Madeira Schools and all that he gave back to the athletic community. This award will be presented to a student that shows a passion for learning, sports and/or extra curricular activities and has given back to their school and community throughout their 4 year high school career.

The Russell-Emery Scholarship

This award is made possible by Mark Russell, class of 1967 in memory of his parents Earl and Elizabeth Emery-Russell. This award will recognize a student for improvement and extra curricular activities during their high school career.

Stephen M. Kramer Scholarship

This scholarship was started by former Superintendent Steve Kramer and is now funded continually by the Madeira Schools Foundation in his honor to award a deserving student each year who has improved his/her academic standing during their high school career.

Santoro Entrepreneurship Scholarship

The “Entrepreneur of the Year” is an award made possible by Madeira High School 2008 alumnus Phil Santoro.  Phil was inspired by his experience here in Madeira and specifically his love for Mrs. Jordan’s Entrepreneur Class.  As a way to give back, he created this scholarship to recognize excellence within this program.

John D. Rahe Scholarship

In honor of former Superintendent of Schools John D. Rahe. Dr. Rahe was a Madeira graduate that went on to be the middle school and high school principal before becoming Superintendent. John was relentless in his pursuit of excellence and a tireless educator who truly helped Madeira to become known across Ohio and our nation for our excellence in education.  The John D. Rahe Scholarship recognizes five students for their outstanding character and scholastic achievement.

Nina Bechtel Knox Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Nina Bechtel Knox, a 1976 graduate of Madeira High School. Nina’s family, classmates and friends established this scholarship to continue her legacy of happiness and hard work. It is presented to a female student preferably intending to study business or journalism and possessing determination, leadership and academic achievement. “Happiness is a science and a choice, a journey everyone can possess and enjoy.”

William Koehler Family Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of William Koehler, a 1968 graduate of Madeira High School. William’s family established this scholarship to honor his legacy of leadership, great listening and multi-sport extra curricular involvement. It will be presented to a student entering higher education through either the military or college/university. This student will possess determination, leadership and academic achievement. They will also have a love of family and community and complete an essay explaining the importance of both to their future education.

A Promise To Care Award by Firestone Kenwood: This scholarship was started by Derek Lester on behalf of Firestone in Kenwood to award a deserving student each year who has shown exemplary service to others and improved his/her academic standing during their high school career.
